Platform of the Radical Party of Cyberia

We will be publishing a formal platform shortly. We take time because we are not a one-man band and discussion and consensus take time to develop. In addition, almost all our members are also hardworking chief executives, legislators or ministers, to a far greater degree than any other party in Cyberia. Our positions are voted by our party membership and Cyberian Democrats are always free to vote their conscience.

Equal Rights without Exception

We don't have a line on gay rights or any other kind of rights. We just believe all Cyberians should have the same rights without any exceptions. Invoking religion to justify excluding gay and lesbian Cyberians from equal rights is simply dishonest and wrong. I am certainly the most leftwing Cyberian Democrat and Juan Gholson is certainly the most rightwing. We are friends and we are in the same party because we will defend equal rights without exception.

Capital Punishment

We are opposed to capital punishment because we believe it is unjust, ineffective, and inequitable.

Cybercare

We support Cybercare. We will be proposing reforms to the Healthcare Act 1998 to allow competing single-payer plans and mutualization of the hospital system.

Tax Reform

The Senate recently passed our tax reform legislation unanimously. That law provides for a progressive income tax where everyone contributes according to their ability to pay. We do not believe that a sales tax (which would need to be levied at extraordinary rates to raise the same revenue) would do anything more than constitute a giant tax expenditure in favor of the wealthiest Cyberians.

Economic Reform

We are committed to making the economic simulation work. We established the Central Bank of Cyberia and we advocate placing the economic simulation udner the bank.

Foreign Relations

Under consideration.

Social Security

To be announced when our democratic process is finished. the Social Security Act with its basic pension funded from federal revenue, was a CD initiative.

Environment

We are working through our ideas on this one. Felciia, the CD heartland,w as the first Cyebrian province to pass a planning law and establish an idnependent enrironment commissioner.

Education

We proposed the Federal University Bill and Cyberian Scholarships Bill. Our ideas are before the National Assembly now. Our opponents have nothing to say on those issues.

Constitutional Reform

In the past our opponents condemned the constitution as excessively complex and verbose. We agree. One of them went so far as to call the constitution 'junk'. We condemned that. Look at the Legislation Forum where you will see that it is Cyberian Democrats who are working through those issues and making positive proposals.

Abortion

We oppose changes in the provisions of the Bill of Rights. Some of us feel that reproductive freedom is an inalienable right, some of us feel that while abortion is an evil the results of prohibition are a worse evil.

Drugs

Our party proposed Proposition 4 and we stand by that position. There is no evidence at all that supports, and much that contradicts, the idea that drug prohibition benefits anyone at all.

The Grieve Administration

Since President Grieve took office the population of the country has more than doubled from the historic low to which it fell under the previousa dministration. A Cyberia that was divided and dying is again united and growing. Now that Reunion has fessed up that they have 80 citizens rather than 800 by the end of the next National Assembly, we could again be the largest micronation around.

The Radical Party of Cyberia are a big tent and we cannot churn out policy by waking up in the morning and asking ourselves what would be fun to propose today. Democracy takes time and policy development takes time.
